On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Mr Atud Jonathan Asaah, founder and CEO of RURAL SOLUTIONS and the developer of the Bessi Village hydroelectric micro-power project in the Batibo district, North-West Region, was received at the headquarters of the Electricity Sector Regulation Agency (ARSEL), where he presented the project to the Director General. With an installed capacity of 15 KW, this hydroelectric power plant currently produces about 6 KW and already powers eight households. In the long term, the project could serve up to 50 households.

This initiative, based on the valorization of a renewable energy source, aims to contribute to improving access to electricity in a locality facing difficulties in connecting to the national grid.
Through this presentation, ARSEL continues to support and supervise decentralized electricity production initiatives, particularly those that contribute to the development of energy solutions adapted to rural communities.

Under the invitation of the Director of ARSEL (Agence de Régulation du Secteur de l’Electricité), the presentation was made at their conference hall in Yaounde on the technical aspect of the community micro hydro power plant currently running in Bessi village. All went well and both institutions (ARSEL and RURAL SOLUTIONS) discussed a broader picture of how they can jointly use this technology to increase access to electricity by the rural communities.
